The Kindle 1's was so bad that it stopped rendering pages when half-way through sometimes but I'm finding the current Kindle's much faster and, like you, I use it outside the house often.

As someone who doesn't have a data plan for my phone because I can't justify the expense, the Kindle is what I use for look-ups and it more than does the trick. .

Anonymous,
Since the Mirsaol technology (is said to be like e-ink but with color and speed, that would be okay by me, as long as there's enough contrast with text and background. I think they'd still offer the e-Ink for those who don't want the color or video capability.

E-Ink itself should be capable of color by the end of his year but it's doubtful it'd be particularly speedy. But by the end of the year we'll know.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05109282436243758435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872447660964013545.post-84083106329271316192010-04-16T19:20:37.801-07:002010-04-16T19:20:37.801-07:00I hope Amazon keeps the Kindle centered around rea...I hope Amazon keeps the Kindle centered around reading ebooks and does not make it a video player. It could end up being a jack of all trades and master of none.

For video there is the iPad, for books the kindle with the e-ink :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872447660964013545.post-68665363675035368212010-04-15T07:23:02.688-07:002010-04-15T07:23:02.688-07:00Courtney, thanks for both subscribing and visiting...Courtney, thanks for both subscribing and visiting the webpage and taking time to give feedback. I remember when you wrote about your family's use of the Kindle.

Yes, I think that at $400 w/o cellular wireless, the Alex is at a disadvantage right now but they have a great idea there.

I agree it'd be nice to be able to highlight or save an article I'm reading on the Kindle web browser.

I just followed, on the Kindle, a link from this article to the article on Apple not allowing apps developers to use, anymore, the word 'pad' in their titles. "JournalPad" is one of them - they now have to change the name of it.

Clicking on the link, I was able to read the article fine. But using wireless to read news on the web can be quite a drain on the battery. If anyone wants to follow a link while keeping their battery charge high, they can read with the charger plugged in though.

When I'm in a hurry, I 'disable images' in settings but it's nice to see them.

I think we'll be seeing updates to the current Kindle before long. They said they'd come before summer, and that includes organizational features.

Nextgen Kindle is likely to hit in October, from what I've seen. If they can do a model with color and video (using Mirasol technology), that'll be interesting.

Thanks again.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05109282436243758435noreply@blogger.com
