The Professor at
theprofessornotes.com has made a
macro to sort the unruly "My Clippings"
Kindle file. It does more than that, by his description (I haven't tried it yet) but it runs only in Windows - and on Macs with Windows and the Windows version of Office running. I haven't seen which version of Office was used, but any version that runs this macro should work with all Kindles. I've been hoping for something like this and the comments there suggest it works well.
From his description:
Here’s what the macro does:
* Creates a table of highlights, notes and bookmarks.
* sorts the table by book and location in book
* removes a (now useless) column
* changes the font to a smaller one
* adjusts the column sizes
If you try it and like it, let him know.
Here's a similar macro that I developed. It takes the kindle clippings library and reformats as a printable notebook. It extracts the title and sets it in a larger font size, followed by each highlight and it's location. It's much easier to read than the plain text file. Here is a link to download it.

Nathan, am interested in your utility but the link you gave insists that people be members of the site before they can even view the info or download a file, and that's a no-no.
ReplyDeleteCan you make this available on a more transparent site where people don't have to become members? And then let us know about it? Thanks.
Thanks.
Sorry about that. I have it posted on a website now. This should work a little better.

Nathan, you once had an intro about yourself there, about goals etc. It'd be good to have something about yourself there again, because what you're offering is a macro that runs things, and while it sounds good to try, we take it on faith. people will always feel better then if there is something about you on the site. Thanks!
