Kindle to be in ALL Target stores June 6
"[Target] is also set to offer Amazon.com Inc's Kindle in all of its stores on June 6, the lone bricks-and-mortar retailer to offer the top-selling product in the growing electronic-reader market."
This started with a pilot program in 100+ stores in Florida and in the Headquarters store in Minneapolis. So, in June, instead of the current opportunity to try out a Kindle for 30 days at home, with full refunds available if not interested in it, the Kindle-curious will be able to try them out at Target stores near them.
It'll be interesting to see if people are more inclined to get one at the store or order from Amazon with the current sales tax advantage. Word is that Target's stated return-policy will be similar if not better, although Amazon Kindle Support is known to be easy to deal with. The convenience of a store in either case can't be underestimated, which is why Amazon is finally doing this.

NOTE: TO AVOID SPAM being posted instantly, this blog uses the blogger.com "DELAY" feature.
Am often away much of the day, and postings won't show up right away. Posts done to use referrer-links may never show up.
Usually, am online enough to release comments within a day though, so the hard-to-read match-text tests for commenting won't be needed this way.
Feedback and questions are welcome. Thanks for participating.
Technical Problems?
If you're having problems leaving a Comment, Google's blogger-help asks that you clear the 'blogger.com' cookies on your browser's Tools or Options menu bar and that will fix the Comment-box problems (until they have a permanent fix).
IF that doesn't work either, then UNcheck the "keep me signed in" box -- Google-help says that should allow your comment to post (it's a workaround to a current bug).
Apologies for the problems.
TIP: There's a size limit. If longer than 3500 characters or so, in a text editor, make two posts out of it.
Oh, I will absolutely be checking one out at Target.I'm in rural Iowa, we have limited access to most new gadgets....this will be so convenient.
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteWhen you do, let us know how it went - presentation, help, your personal take, if you can. Thanks!
Dear Andrys,
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for information to help with a Father's Day promotion for the new Kindle release of Paris Insights - An Anthology (http://www.parisinsights.com/kindle.php). Do you know what the current demographics are for Kindle sales? Do more men buy Kindle than women? What age groups purchase the device most frequently?
Thanks!
Monique
Monique,
ReplyDeleteI have no access to info like that. Amazon would have it but they're not exactly free with information on Kindle sales.
I think there have been reports with demographics given for e-reader buyers in general but not (that I've seen) for Kindle buyers. I suppose this is one way of drawing attention to the book though :-)
Good luck with it.
I can't wait! We have a grant to purchase Kindles but our school acctg department wont let us order through Amazon! Have been pulling my hair out! Was considering driving to Minn.
ReplyDeleteKB,
ReplyDeleteThat's unusual. I worked for UC Berkeley for years and Amazon was big with them.
Glad you have a Target store nearby on June 6 :-)
