JK Rowling actively considering e-book format finally, spokesperson says

The Scotsman's Susan Smith reports that J.K. Rowling's spokeswoman confirmed "The e-book format is now something that is being actively considered."

She also writes that "Liz Thomson, editor of book industry website BookBrunch, said: 'I wouldn't be surprised if the rights for the e-books are sold for £100m.

"Experts believe that move could revolutionise the world of electronic publishing, triggering rocket sales of e-book readers such as Kindle and the iPad.

  1. Count me in -- read the first one, obviously something special, just lots of other books I'd rather read in my limited time available. However, I travel a few times a year, and am out at sea for extended periods of time with *lots* of free time -- wouldn't consider carrying the physical books, but would buy the whole set on Kindle when available.

  2. I believe this was always the plan. Keep on selling the books only until sales start to fall, and then release the eBooks and 'start the magic' all over again.

I did notice that and checked back (this time) and couldn't find an earlier date than 4/3. The Scotsman isn't known for doing that kind of thing, and the story is everywhere. We'll see!

It's not earthshaking enough for April 1 -- they'd have to have suddenly released them as a 'surprise' though that would be too obvious. :-)

Looks more like inviting a bidding war...

Am often away much of the day, and postings won't show up right away. Posts done to use referrer-links may never show up.

Usually, am online enough to release comments within a day though, so the hard-to-read match-text tests for commenting won't be needed this way.

Technical Problems?
If you're having problems leaving a Comment, Google's blogger-help asks that you clear the 'blogger.com' cookies on your browser's Tools or Options menu bar and that will fix the Comment-box problems (until they have a permanent fix).

IF that doesn't work either, then UNcheck the "keep me signed in" box -- Google-help says that should allow your comment to post (it's a workaround to a current bug).
Apologies for the problems.
