The one review is written by the owner of the website for which the author posts essays and food recipes. The website owner writes: "Wonderful multicultural offerings (should I say "fusion"?) that blend all that's best about Caribbean/American/Spanish/Chinese/Middle Eastern cuisines. She's a global culinary force to be reckoned with, one of those rare cooks who combine art and practicality in their creations. Do yourself a favor and give this cookbook a try, if only for the wonderful story about the Chinese influence in Puerto Rico and the recipe for stuffed peppers. Trust me. You won't be disappointed!"
Product description: "An edited compilation of recipes and essays originally published between 2006 - 2010. Includes 24 indexed recipes and cuisines include Puerto Rican, Spanish and Chinese, along with adaptations of some classics."
(Two other books by an author released for $0 today were reviewed as filled with writing errors to an unusual degree, so I'm not including those.)

Off the subject, am I the only one for which the right-side buttons on a black DXG seem like a black cat in a coal mine?
ReplyDeleteI can neither see nor feel the buttons or their labels and have a trial and error operation virtually every time I want to advance a page as my right hand is alternately needed to handle food on every page.
Thanks, Don Lloyd
Don,
ReplyDeleteI have no way of knowing, but I can say that I've no problem with the buttons on the right.
But I know what you mean about black on black.
The crack I can see is good enough for me. I've never thought about it. It seems to be just where it ought to be.
Are you saying you are always eating while reading? I have a little stand (there are many at Amazon), and I just stand it up in one of those -- I have a picture of it on my Kindle galleries. Maybe it's easier to see the button that way.
I almost always eat when reading fiction, but usually not for non-fiction. A stand won't do any good as I read/eat in a recliner, using my abdomen as a table for a paper plate and balancing the DXG near my belt with my left hand. I must average 2 button press attempts before I find a give or a click.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Don Lloyd
Don,
ReplyDeleteMaybe remembering you have to press on the INSIDE of the lever -- the part closer to the screen -- will make it easier. It won't work if you just press it, as you need to press the inner portion. They did that for the DX and Kindle 2, so that it wouldn't turn a page if you just picked the unit up.
They changed that to outside again for the K3 though.
