E Ink's Triton Color EPaper Display - with video (SlashGear at IFA 2011)

THE CURRENT STATE OF E-INK TRITON COLOR EPAPER DISPLAY

SlashGear's Chris Davies has a story with video on E Ink's Triton color epaper display, seen at IFA 2011.  Click on the first image to get the large version.

While the colors are muted (the second image is from the video), this Pearl screen color display with a color filter layer overlaid could still work -- for books with color illustrations, photos, graphs -- on a lightweight e-reader used outside in the sun, a situation where it's difficult to see an image at all on a color LCD display.   But, would a color device without the visual punch of current LCD color be feasible cost-wise?

Wording in the article suggests it's still slow, as "faster versions that can support more fluid transitions are in the pipeline."

Here's a photo of the demo device alongside a Kindle 3. [Larger-image links corrected.]

SlashGear has quite a few photos of this and other e-Ink projects --flexible displays, etc.

E Ink earlier announced the joint development, with Epson, of a 300-dpi ePaper monochrome device, "with razor sharp text and images..."

Technical Problems?
If you're having problems leaving a Comment, Google's blogger-help asks that you clear the 'blogger.com' cookies on your browser's Tools or Options menu bar and that will fix the Comment-box problems (until they have a permanent fix).

IF that doesn't work either, then UNcheck the "keep me signed in" box -- Google-help says that should allow your comment to post (it's a workaround to a current bug).
Apologies for the problems.
