Kindle 3 shipping dates, an answer, per an Amazon forum note

Elizabeth
posting in the Amazon Forum thread about the Kindle 3, quoted an answer she said she received when she asked, though she didn't say who gave the information, but it was an email reply.

It looks good.  Here is what Elizabeth wrote:
' I asked a few days ago before they upped the date on the product page, here is what they replied per e-mail:
Orders placed before 8 p.m. Pacific Time on August 1st will still ship by the August 27th release date.
Orders placed before 10 p.m. Pacific Time on August 5th will ship on or before September 4th.
Orders placed before 12 p.m. Pacific Time on August 12th will ship on or before September 8th.
Orders placed after 12 p.m. Pacific Time on August 12th will ship on or before September 12th. '

Many will have noticed that any Kindle 3 order, made at this point (starting yesterday), will now be expected to ship on September 17.

  1. I just ordered the K3 last night (8-21-10) and was shown at checkout that the estimated time of shipping was going to be OCTOBER 20th!

  2. Awesome! Thank you for this information. I've got my first Kindle on order and was dying to know when it would come.

  3. Just spoke w/ Amazon customer service to see when the Kindle 3 that I ordered on July 31st is estimated to ship. The supervisor I spoke with said that they are not currently able to provide me an estimated ship date, but that at the worst it would ship by Sept 17th. This is concerning since this is the same day that orders placed today are supposed to ship by.

  4. I forgot to mention in the previous post about the Oct 20th ship date that I purchased the K3-wifi/3G Graphite model.

At this point, the delivery date is showing as Sept 17 still for both 3G/WiFi and WiFi-Only models if ordred today.

But it's a Sunday and maybe they haven't updated the delivery dates. It could also be that there was a glitch that made your date October 20.

Do go to Kindle Support page and press gold-colored button at right that says "Contact us" -- and ask them. Notice the tabs above include a Phone choice (or used to).

If you're in the U.S., just call 1-866-321-8851 for Kindle Support and ask them.

    To lizandrashaw,
Glat that helped! It came from Elizabeth on the Amazon Kindle forums. A great place to visit.

She doesn't have access to your ship-date, but an Amazon rep was reported to have said that any Kindle ordered before August 1 would be shipped by August 27.

They seem to have a glitch in being able to give correct ship date on the orders (which is a big glitch).
Mine was ordered July 28 and my current orders page shows that they (the automated shipping notice) can't estimate it.
But I expect it to be shipped next week anyway. That's based on what the Amazon rep said to a reporter. It's in one of my articles here.

So, good luck to us :-)

  6. From Amazon FAQs 11AM Aug 23

Will my order for a Kindle (Latest Generation) ship on August 27?

If you placed an order before 8 p.m. PST on August 1st, your order will still ship by the August 27th release date.

  7. Thanks, Anonymous -
Glad they put it into a FAQ!

  9. My Kindle 3 order, that I placed on 7/29, went into shipping soon status this morning (8/25)!

  10. Ralph,
Yes! That happened to a number of us last night - the order can't be cancelled or changed now because it's being prepared for shipment.

They appear to be right on target with however many they had until they started putting the dates off for future batches. I wonder when Targets everywhere are getting theirs.

    Thanks for the report.

  11. I'm hoping mine goes into "shipping soon status" - I also ordered on the 29th.

  12. Leroy,
You should be in that first queue, for sure.

  13. I ordered mine on August 7th and it shipped today (Sept 2nd).

  14. John,
It's good to find out they're ahead of that schedule then.

Thans for the info. In time for the holidays, at least here (how parochial am I?).

  15. I have pre ordered kindle wifi on 24th august .It just says not dispatched on the site ..Can anyone suggest when can i expect that based on the trends. ?

  16. Anonymous,
I think the delivery dates at that time were something like "by the" 10th or 14th of September.

They've been arriving somewhat earlier than dates given, people say.

  17. Andrys, it arrived Sept 3rd in the morning - yes I opted for the fast delivery. This is my first Kindle and the only problem that I've found is that it is too easy to buy books.

On my third book already and loving it.

  18. John, I did the same re that 1-day thing :-)
Thanks for reporting back, and, yes, all too easy to buy books, though there are tons of free, even free contemporary ones on promotion (which are highlighted in the footer of my blog articles for those who want to see what's in them each day, as the free contemporary ones tend to be short term).

Third book in 2 days? Amazing. But I do find it addictive and spent hours reading just my subscriptions yesterday. Catching up a bit.

  19. I ordered mine on August 27th and haven't heard anything except that they are expected to ship on or before September 17th. But no email yet and no update on my account page. I hope it ships soon! I am traveling internationally on the 22nd and did a one day ship to get it fast.

  20. Anonymous,
I'm pretty sure you'd get it by then but to be on the safe side go to http://amzn.to/ksupport and click on the gold-colored button that says "Contact us" and ask them to phone you (see phone tab) to discuss the situation.

ALSOK if you're in the U.S., call (better during the Pacific Coast business hours) Kindle Support at 1-866-321-8851 and let them know your situation. You can call at other times but I'd rather have access to Amazon staff during their business hours.

  21. Mine ordered on Aug 28th and still no updates on shipping date.

  22. Anonymous,
Contact Customer Support so they can check on it. Wasn't the due date Sept. 17 for your order date though?

If it was due Sept. 10 (not too likely) call Cusotmer Svc if you're in the U.S., at 1-866-321-8851

    Hope you find out soon.

Technical Problems?
If you're having problems leaving a Comment, Google's blogger-help asks that you clear the 'blogger.com' cookies on your browser's Tools or Options menu bar and that will fix the Comment-box problems (until they have a permanent fix).

IF that doesn't work either, then UNcheck the "keep me signed in" box -- Google-help says that should allow your comment to post (it's a workaround to a current bug).
Apologies for the problems.
